POSM is a student-run group building serious experimental hardware. We rely on the generosity of the scientific and engineering community to accelerate our work.
We build real things.
Unlike simulation-only or purely theoretical groups, POSM students spend time in the lab designing, fabricating, and debugging physical systems. Your support goes directly into working hardware that trains the next generation of experimental scientists.
Students who work with POSM graduate with hands-on skills in optics, electronics, vacuum technology, control systems, and precision instrumentation — skills directly relevant to quantum technology companies, national labs, and research institutions.
Ways to support POSM.
Equipment Donations
Surplus or loaned instruments — oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, lock-in amplifiers, optical components — go directly onto active experiments.
Parts & Component Donations
Optics, optomechanics, electronic components, connectors, cables, fasteners, and consumables are always needed and immediately useful.
Software Licenses
EDA tools, CAD software, scientific computing licenses, and simulation tools help our students design faster and more effectively.
Loaner Instruments
Short-term loans of high-value test equipment allow us to characterize and validate systems that we couldn't otherwise access.
Fabrication Support
PCB manufacturing, assembly, CNC machining, and 3D printing partnerships accelerate our hardware development cycle.
Technical Mentorship
Industry engineers and scientists sharing expertise, reviewing designs, or visiting the lab provides invaluable guidance to our students.
Financial Sponsorship
Direct financial contributions fund component purchases, conference registrations, lab consumables, and infrastructure upgrades.
